Pretty little things

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

My vacation continues to be beach-less but with lots of time spent in the pool… Summer’s sunny and scalding hot! Throughout Christmas with family, eat is all we did!

I am shocked at the prices here in Brazil. I find a lot of beautiful things that I’d love to have, but the prices are really extorsive. I am seeing myself increasingly more detached of the Brazilian “reality” and ask myself how is it possible to have prices sooooo incompatible with the purchasing power here. Everything can be bought in a million of monthly installments, but so what? You end up paying twice as much as you would for a fairly priced product. Therefore, I’ve been very diligent on my acquisitions here. But since I love Brazil’s summer fashion so much, especially bikinis and bijoux, I could not resist and bought some pieces that I plan to use during Boston’s brief summer.

Due to the absence of my favorite photographer, my lack of ability with the tripod, and the fact that these pieces speak for themselves, I decided to photograph them just like that… my presence, this time, was limited to be on the other side of the lenses.

I leave 2009 with a promise of nice photos, fair looks, and a lot of information exchange for the next year! Happy 2010! A healthy, peaceful, and loveful year for all of us!

Changing concepts!

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

When I was living in Brazil I used to wait anxiously for winters, I loved to dress “winter-style” using layering, boots, scarves, gloves but always had a special knack for winter coats (well, I still have it). But since I moved to the polar arctic (a.k.a. Boston), many of my winter fashion concepts have changed. Now, I really believe that winter fashion depends on what kind of winter you’re talking about. During the winter here in Boston any temperature around 32 F (0 C) is great and temperatures less than -4 F (-20 C) are not really a surprise to those who live here. When in middle of frigid cold weather, our biggest concern is to survive and fashion comes in second. But as the cold season just started and it gets dark real early, each sunny day (or a fraction of it) is celebrated with happiness and, of course, winter fashion!

The language of fashion!

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Day after day I am finding out what a great (and sweet) ordeal is to have a blog. It’s a looooooot of work (congratulations to all bloggers) but also a lot of pleasure… It consists of great amounts of prep work, trying to do the best you can, looking for cool outfits, researching the right mix of different pieces together, looking for clothes that you forgot you had in your closet, finding nice, new places for the photo shoots, posing for the camera without having any idea of how it is going to come out, giving an expression to your clothes, mood, and style… but the best part of it is to meet people all over the world and realize that everybody speaks the same language, the language of fashion!

Faux Fur

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Throughout Boston’s frigid cold winter, fur pieces (faux fur, of course!) are not only a “fashionable fashion” choice but also provide us a nice way to fight the cold with dignity.

Since our winter here hasn’t begun yet (fingers crossed) and we still don’t have to get out dressed like a bear, I just picked up this nice little vest at H&M last week for only $15 (and I’ll admit, I was in the market for something like this already).

I could not resist buying it (I didn’t try that hard to resist anyway). It is super soft, the color is soooo nice, and the price couldn’t be better. The plan now is, with the money that I saved, to hit the salon ASAP because my hair is very close to calling 911.
