Still waiting for spring to come!

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Sometimes I feel like being part of the landscape, some other times I feel like I want to stand out of the crowd. All you need is a little detail, such as colorful legs to contrast with the dormant, grayish grass that was once green… because we should be just like our mother nature, always in constant transformation. Have a nice week everyone!

As vezes prefiro me confundir com a paisagem, outras me destacar dela. Boa semana!

Animal Print

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

At the beginning I was very resistant about wearing anything with animal prints. But after buying my first leopard print flats, I just threw away all preconceived notions about this fashion style. I then realized that this kind of pattern can give a nice update to a look, can make it look very feminine, gracious and daring.

So when I saw this zebra print coat (for an excellent price) I had no doubt that I was going to buy it. I really, really loved it and I think it is really easy to wear with other different pieces and it can add some fun to the all those dark winter tones I’ve already talked about.

How about you girls, have you embraced the animal print fashion trend yet?

Obrigada Roberto!

Pretty little things

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

My vacation continues to be beach-less but with lots of time spent in the pool… Summer’s sunny and scalding hot! Throughout Christmas with family, eat is all we did!

I am shocked at the prices here in Brazil. I find a lot of beautiful things that I’d love to have, but the prices are really extorsive. I am seeing myself increasingly more detached of the Brazilian “reality” and ask myself how is it possible to have prices sooooo incompatible with the purchasing power here. Everything can be bought in a million of monthly installments, but so what? You end up paying twice as much as you would for a fairly priced product. Therefore, I’ve been very diligent on my acquisitions here. But since I love Brazil’s summer fashion so much, especially bikinis and bijoux, I could not resist and bought some pieces that I plan to use during Boston’s brief summer.

Due to the absence of my favorite photographer, my lack of ability with the tripod, and the fact that these pieces speak for themselves, I decided to photograph them just like that… my presence, this time, was limited to be on the other side of the lenses.

I leave 2009 with a promise of nice photos, fair looks, and a lot of information exchange for the next year! Happy 2010! A healthy, peaceful, and loveful year for all of us!

Changing concepts!

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

When I was living in Brazil I used to wait anxiously for winters, I loved to dress “winter-style” using layering, boots, scarves, gloves but always had a special knack for winter coats (well, I still have it). But since I moved to the polar arctic (a.k.a. Boston), many of my winter fashion concepts have changed. Now, I really believe that winter fashion depends on what kind of winter you’re talking about. During the winter here in Boston any temperature around 32 F (0 C) is great and temperatures less than -4 F (-20 C) are not really a surprise to those who live here. When in middle of frigid cold weather, our biggest concern is to survive and fashion comes in second. But as the cold season just started and it gets dark real early, each sunny day (or a fraction of it) is celebrated with happiness and, of course, winter fashion!

The language of fashion!

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Day after day I am finding out what a great (and sweet) ordeal is to have a blog. It’s a looooooot of work (congratulations to all bloggers) but also a lot of pleasure… It consists of great amounts of prep work, trying to do the best you can, looking for cool outfits, researching the right mix of different pieces together, looking for clothes that you forgot you had in your closet, finding nice, new places for the photo shoots, posing for the camera without having any idea of how it is going to come out, giving an expression to your clothes, mood, and style… but the best part of it is to meet people all over the world and realize that everybody speaks the same language, the language of fashion!

A little bit of everything!

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

I really appreciate people that have only one style but, as a good Gemini, I have wild mood swings that make it hard for me to follow only one style… My looks have a lot to do with the occasions, but they can vary widely. I love fashion but I’m not a stickler. I’m crazy about new trends but I get tired once I see everyone wearing the same things. Fashion is freedom to follow one specific style, many different styles, or no style at all… but, more importantly, fashion exists so you are not just one more person in the crowd.

And because tomorrow is Thanksgiving, I’m going to Cape Cod to spend the day with sweet friends! I’m not bringing just my smile, but also some homemade cranberry sauce, green beans casserole and, of course, my traditional chocolate mousse! Happy Thanksgiving!

Alem do meu sorriso, levo homemade cranberry sauce, green beans cassarole e claro, meu tradicional mousse de chocolate.

Cowboy up!

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

I love clothes and shoes that give personality to a look but we have to be extra careful with some pieces as to not make them us look like a character (unless you want it to). When I fell in love with these Cowboy boots, I promised to myself I’d never wear them with patterned flannel shirts, jeans skirts, or Cowboy belts (argh!). Because the cool effect of pieces like this is to use them in a unexpected way in order to avoid being stereotyped. Have a nice week!

Boa semana!

Sequins addict

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Back in the day, it was either a sign of glamour or considered tacky. Always present in parties and “drag queen-like” productions, sequins, to my happiness, are present in a variety of types, colors, and shapes (and I want them all). And by being a sequins addict, I embrace the sequins fashion and go like this!

Look Inside!

Monday, November 16th, 2009

T-shirts: it’s been looooong since I’ve used them, but this Sunday I finally surrendered to my big adolescence companion. T-shirts can go from being merely “movie extras” to “main protagonists”, and are capable of not only putting a finish touch on a look but also conveying a message. When I saw this “Look Inside” one at H&M, I had no doubt in my mind, it is miiiiiiiine!

E minhaaaaaaa!

Hello Kitties!

Friday, November 6th, 2009

I have a special relationship with these kitties… When I saw this t-shirt/dress (I hate the word tunic) at Pinkyotto, I had no doubt and took them home with me. Now, when it’s pretty out there, I take them for a walk. How about you guys, what’s the special piece that you have in your closet? Have a nice weekend!
